How does a ski tour to the Allalin or the Alphubel appeal to you? There are high-altitude ski tours available for every taste and every degree of difficulty. Experienced mountain guides will show you the way up our four-thousand-metre peaks.
CLASSIC TOURS:
Allalin, 4027 m Ascent: 2 1/2 hrs. The Allalin is the easiest and most popular 4000 m-peak in the area. You reach the summit from the Mittelallalin (3500 m) via the Feejoch (3800 m). When visibility is good, you can make out the towering summits of the Mont-Blanc, Matterhorn and Piz Bernina.
Alphubel, 4206 m Ascent: 4 hrs. The Alphubel is a very attractive mountain. The ascent over the spectacular glacier is steep and long. The steep sections to the summit, however, are easy to manage by making zig-zag turns. After the ascent you can enjoy a fantastic long ski back down to the glacier lake.
Strahlhorn, 4190 m Ascent: 5 hrs. The Strahlhorn is a typical ski-tour mountain. The gentle ascent to the Adler pass is relatively easy. Nevertheless, you need good physical condition. Under normal conditions, you can almost reach the summit of the Strahlhorn on skis. The last few metres have to be tackled on foot using crampons. The long, flat ski back over the Allalin glacier has a dream-like quality. The run down to Saas-Almagell is somewhat steeper.
Adlerpass to Zermatt, 3789 m Ascent: 3 hrs. From the Metro window (3300 m) you cross the Hohlaub glacier and then climb up to the Adler pass (3789 m). The ski run down takes you over the Findeln glacier to Zermatt (2100 vertical metres). This really is one of the most beautiful ways to go to Zermatt. You travel back by taxi. |
